Working in the Netherlands

Working in the Netherlands gives you the opportunity to improve your skills, to meet new people and to learn about another culture.

The Netherlands is a small European country in the north west of Europe. The country is surrounded by two seas and many beaches and is neighbour to Belgium and Germany. On the other side of the sea lays England. The country is mostly flat, so many people move around by bike. The road network is very good and of high quality and the public transport is good and on time. We have an open, tolerant, informal and direct culture. Our seasons are moderate with mild winters and summers.

1. International opportunity, close to home

The Netherlands is just a two hour flight from Barcelona and about three hours to Faro (Portugal). And there are regular flights to Spain or Portugal every day.

2. No-nonsense cultur

Dutchmen have of course their own habits and mentality. We have an open, tolerant, informal and direct culture. People speak their minds and are more direct than in other countries. Being truthful about careers and being on time are important.

3. Talking English

The second language in The Netherlands is English. By speaking English you will get around quite easily. If you can speak Dutch you have the opportunity to get a Dutch healthcare registration. The movies on Dutch television and in the cinema are also mostly in English, so easy to watch and understand.

4. Flat hierarchical structure

Many organisations have a flat hierarchical structure. The opinions of employees are frequently asked and in a working environment we address each other mostly by first name, even the CEO. The CEO or director of the company can mostly be addressed directly.

5. High quality healthcare

The Netherlands offers a high-quality healthcare system. Learn more about this here.

6. High wages and holiday leave

In the Netherlands we pay our employees good wages. Do you want to know more about the salary for nurse? Check our jobs.

Full-time employees in the Netherlands are legally entitled to a minimum of 20 days (four weeks) of paid holiday leave per year. This is based on a calculation of four times the number of hours worked per week.

7. Working hours

Our standard working week is 36 hours per week, that means you work 8-10 hours per day, for a maximum of 10 consecutive days. Because we offer our clients, if needed, 24-hour care, you work in shifts of 8-10 hours with one or two other nurses.

8. Life style and taking time off

The Netherlands offers many museums, amusement parcs, National Parcs, cinemas, sports, restaurants and bars. We have some great cities to visit, like Amsterdam, The Hague, Groningen, Delft or Utrecht.
